Overview

At HDR, employee-owners create a welcoming environment where everyone is valued and respected. The Bridge Engineer role involves applying structural engineering techniques to design bridges and interchanges, contributing to the development of sustainable transportation systems.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques.
• Work on bridge, box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
• Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures and develop structural details using specialized software.
• Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
• Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers.
• Perform deputy project management tasks.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Previous experience in bridge design.
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise and others.
• Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer, and Autodesk Infraworks.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Prestress Concrete Design.
• Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
• Experience managing junior staff.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
