Overview
As a Structural Engineer at Stantec, you will work on multiple projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer, focusing on evaluations, analyses, calculations, design drawings, and specifications for engineered systems related to water infrastructure. The role involves collaboration with a team to deliver projects that enhance communities' access to clean water while adhering to engineering standards and codes.
Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design for various water-related facilities.
- Support structural engineering tasks related to dams, flood protection, and water infrastructure projects.
- Design and analyze reinforced concrete, masonry, and structural steel systems.
- Oversee design, analysis, and documentation for projects of varying complexity.
- Support the engineering team in evaluating and specifying structural systems.
- Prepare and revise documentation through various structural phases.
- Develop designs using sketches, electronic models, and diagrams.
- Utilize computing technologies for 3D modeling and provide guidance to junior engineers.
- Participate in project coordination meetings with team members and external stakeholders.
- Assist in project administration including report writing and cost tracking.
- Review contractor shop drawings and develop solutions for RFIs.
- Assist technical staff in field activities including structural observations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer License required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Working knowledge of structural design codes and applicable building codes.
- Ability to check the work of others and manage time effectively.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and structural drawings.
- Experience with structural engineering software like STAAD, RAM, SAP2000, RISA.
- Knowledge of ACI 318, ACI 350, IBC, ASCE 7, and ASCE 24.
