Overview
Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company that impacts millions globally through technology that enhances agricultural productivity, energy reliability, and connectivity. They are seeking a motivated Structural Welder to join their Global Utility Division and contribute to the fabrication and repair of metal components.
Responsibilities
- Weld metal components together to fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.
- Perform structural welding operations using arc welding processes in the fabrication of steel electrical poles and substations.
- Interpret blueprints and written specifications to determine operation sequence.
- Move pole shafts and materials using an overhead crane.
- Participate in department safety initiatives and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Learn and apply Valmont fitting processes within the first 6–12 months of employment.
Requirements
- One month of previous hands-on welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or professional environment.
- Successful completion of an internal welding test.
- Ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
- Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints including weld requirement symbology is preferred.
- One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred.
