Job Description

Overview

Everett Ship Repair is a premier ship repair facility in the Pacific Northwest, founded in 2019, specializing in repair, maintenance, and conversion services for commercial vessels. They are seeking a Structural Welder to join their team and contribute to the fabrication and assembly of marine vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Weld out panels, assemblies, modules, and final build of vessels while adhering to good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Weld seams and skip welds in various positions for different joint types.
  • Grind and prep weld seams for tacking and final inspection.
  • Set up and operate MIG welders for watertight and skip weld patterns.
  • Perform Air Arc operations to back gouge welds and remove bad welds.
  • Sub-arc large hull and deck plates.
  • Maintain and adjust equipment for efficient operation.
  • Prepare metal surfaces using hand-operated equipment.
  • Set up ventilation and lighting in confined spaces.
  • Perform welds on various alloys including aluminum and stainless steel.
  • Complete a high volume of quality welds during shifts.
  • Work as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Embrace and practice ESR's safety culture.
  • Develop constructive working relationships with crew members.
  • Share knowledge with other employees, especially apprentices.
  • Follow safe work practices and housekeeping procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Welder.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and blueprints.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working around heavy machinery.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Knowledge of shipyard safety practices and vessel terminology.
  • High school education or equivalent vocational education.
  • 2-G, 3-G, 4-G ABS Steel certifications required; Aluminum a plus.
  • Ability to obtain USCG or ABS welding certifications within 90 days.
  • Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
  • Formal training in welding principles and equipment care.
  • Certified or certifiable in USCG or ABS welding.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
