Job Description

Overview

Technique is looking for a Robotic Welding Technician / Programmer to join their team at a defense weld assembly plant in lower Michigan. The position involves operating and programming robotic MIG/TIG welding cells while progressing through competency tiers that build on skill sets and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot from CMM reports using data to understand and resolve build issues.
  • Recover the robot from fault conditions and restart the program.
  • Adjust robot points and welding parameters to maintain weld quality.
  • Select and change programs from the PLC screen for production changeovers.
  • Apply intermediate GD&T to prints, layouts, and inspections.
  • Change out welding fixtures to support job and program changeovers.
  • Run and adjust robotic welders, including harmonizing and setup of new fixtures.
  • Utilize offline programming software to prepare jobs.
  • Independently troubleshoot robot welders, engaging OEM/Miller assistance if required.
  • Apply advanced GD&T to prints, layouts, and inspections.
  • Interpret CMM reports, troubleshoot builds, and drive process improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; vocational or technical trades training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial welding experience.
  • Competency in Prototype Welding Technician Level 2 functions.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following robot controllers: Motoman, Panasonic, or Fanuc.
  • Demonstrated PLC screen navigation and program selection.
  • For Level 2: verifiable offline programming experience and independent CMM-driven troubleshooting.
  • Basic-to-advanced GD&T fluency, matched to the level under consideration.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes, hazardous chemicals, and loud noise.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; U.S. Person status may be required for ITAR/export-control purposes.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime as needed.
  • Days, hours, and shifts required may vary.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
