Overview

The Welder Combination position involves performing high-quality welding using GTAW and SMAW techniques on piping and structural components in live field environments. The role demands strong technical skills, adaptability, and the ability to maintain code-quality welds in various challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform GTAW/SMAW welding in all positions under field restrictions.
  • Complete welds on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys per WPS requirements.
  • Execute welds, repairs, or others safely and efficiently.
  • Perform weld prep, fit-up assistance, and final cleanliness in limited workspace environments.
  • Maintain consistent weld quality despite adverse conditions.
  • Follow all site-specific safety rules and permits.
  • Identify hazards such as pressure boundaries and oxygen-deficient areas.
  • Set up FR welding screens, fire watches, and spark containment measures.
  • Use all required PPE including welding clothing and fall protection.
  • Produce welds meeting acceptance criteria for various testing methods.
  • Read and follow WPS, P&IDs, ISO drawings, and material specs.
  • Maintain traceability according to Welding and Quality Control Department expectations.
  • Self-inspect welds before QC notification.
  • Report weld defects, equipment issues, or deviations immediately.
  • Meet or exceed daily weld count and productivity targets.
  • Adapt to changing job priorities.
  • Work effectively with fitters, riggers, and inspectors.
  • Manage welding consumables efficiently.
  • Document weld numbers, joint completion, and material verification.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Communicate challenges early regarding access and equipment needs.
