Overview
The Traveling Welder is responsible for providing general construction labor tasks as part of a welding crew to erect precast concrete panels, ensuring efficiency and safety in their work.
Responsibilities
- Completes general construction labor tasks necessary to weld precast concrete panels.
- Takes work direction from detail or erection crew foreperson.
- May perform work of a miscellaneous nature as directed by foreperson.
- Uses materials/supplies in an efficient manner.
- Handles equipment in a responsible manner.
- Follows established safety procedures and policies.
Requirements
- Welding experience.
- Ability to carry out simple and complex verbal instructions.
- Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Ability to work from heights, including but not limited to ladders and aerial work platforms.
- Ability to obtain membership to a local union.
- General knowledge of construction practices.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
- Ability to travel extensively (50% of the time or more, including overnights) and work overtime as needed.
- 2+ years of construction or manual labor experience (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Certified Welder (AWS, 3g & 4g) (preferred).
Additional Information
- Field work in all types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast).
- Exposure to dirt/dust and noise from heavy machinery/vehicles.
