Overview
The Maintenance - Welder position involves maintaining school facilities in excellent operating condition to support educational use. The role requires skilled welding work and the ability to perform various maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled welding work in equipment repair and construction.
- Conduct cutting and welding operations on structural steel, machinery, and equipment using acetylene and electric ARC welding equipment.
- Braise various non-ferrous metals.
- Sharpen and temper tools.
- Fabricate special tools and equipment.
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
- Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Three years of welding experience.
- Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings and make layouts.
- Strength and stamina necessary to perform heavy lifting and work in uncomfortable positions.
- Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.
