Job Description

Overview

The Maintenance - Welder position involves maintaining school facilities in excellent operating condition to support educational use. The role requires skilled welding work and the ability to perform various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled welding work in equipment repair and construction.
  • Conduct cutting and welding operations on structural steel, machinery, and equipment using acetylene and electric ARC welding equipment.
  • Braise various non-ferrous metals.
  • Sharpen and temper tools.
  • Fabricate special tools and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Three years of welding experience.
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings and make layouts.
  • Strength and stamina necessary to perform heavy lifting and work in uncomfortable positions.
  • Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.
