Overview
The job is for a Flux Core and MIG Welder responsible for performing welding on structural steel and fabricated metal components. The position requires reading blueprints and ensuring weld quality while maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform Flux Core (FCAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding on structural steel and fabricated metal components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Fit, align, tack, and weld components according to specifications.
- Prepare materials by measuring, cutting, grinding, and cleaning surfaces before welding.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Operate grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Follow OSHA safety regulations and wear the required PPE at all times.
- Work with supervisors and team members to complete projects on schedule.
Requirements
- Must have previous Flux Core and MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to pass a hands-on welding test.
- Experience reading blueprints and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of weld quality standards and proper welding techniques.
- Experience using grinders, cutting tools, measuring tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) are a plus, but not required.
