Overview

The Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a Welder/Fabricator for heavy-duty trucks and equipment to perform welding and fabrication tasks. The role involves maintenance and repair of metal objects and industrial equipment, with a preference for candidates with experience in heavy construction vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structure and craft work in welding and fabrication.
  • Modify, maintain, and repair a variety of metal objects and industrial equipment.
  • Disassemble, design, assemble, and repair metal and nonmetal materials.
  • Fabricate structures from blueprints and sketches.
  • Operate heavy vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Provide oversight to others performing welding duties.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience, education, or training in welding, metal fabrication, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgical science, blueprint interpretation, and welding techniques.
  • Must obtain a State of Maine Class B CDL with air endorsements.
  • Pass the MaineDOT Welder Certification to attain permanent status.
