Overview

The Welder-Erection position involves using stick welding or flame cutting equipment to weld or join metal components, ensuring high-quality fabrication and adherence to safety standards. The role requires travel and the ability to work in various conditions, emphasizing teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Weld connection of precast/prestressed members.
• Perform daily maintenance on the welding machine.
• Signal crane as needed.
• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
• Examine workpieces for defects and measure for conformance with specifications.
• Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
• Travel and stay out of town through the workweek as required.
• Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, tools, and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Prior welding experience preferred.
• Certified by recognized, licensed authority or establishment approved by AWS.
• Knowledge of raw materials and techniques for effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Knowledge of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Intermediate reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to assess performance and make improvements.
• Arm/hand steadiness.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player.
• Ability to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes.
• Values and demonstrates safe working behaviors.

Additional Information

• Monday-Friday work schedule with varying hours based on workload and location.
• Unscheduled overtime may be required depending on business needs.
• Work environment includes indoor and outdoor/sheltered and unsheltered areas.
• Work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions.
• Must be able to travel.
