Overview

This National Guard position is for a WELDER, responsible for performing various welding duties using different processes and tools as part of the NE CSMS, National Guard.

Responsibilities

  • Performs welding duties using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes.
  • Uses templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify, or fabricate metal items.
  • Makes numerous types of joints using flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions on equipment.
  • Brazes dissimilar metals and flame cuts metal to size for fabrication.
  • Utilizes basic sheet metal tools and equipment to repair and/or fabricate various equipment.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and sketches.
  • Lays out, positions, and clamps work; selects type of rod and size of tip for welding.
  • Determines heat necessary and adjusts equipment accordingly.
  • Maintains proper speed, flame motion, tip and angle, and position of the welding flame.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
