Overview

The Pipefitter will be assigned to the HVAC shop at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York, responsible for installing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining HVAC piping systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and modify facility-wide refrigeration and piping systems.
• Repair, maintain, modify, and install new and existing utility and refrigeration piping systems.
• Locate faults in equipment such as walk-in coolers, chillers, split systems, window air conditioners, freezers, heat pumps, and rooftop units.
• Install new piping systems for facility-wide HVAC refrigeration, heating, and ventilation systems.
• Complete the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment and test the equipment.
• Complete repairs in confined areas around air handlers, pipes, pumps, motors, and refrigeration machinery.
• Read and interpret blueprints, layout sketches, manufacturers' literature, and specifications for piping systems.
• Cut, thread, and connect pipes using unions, flanges, and sweating.
• Fit pipe sections by screwing, bolting, brazing, welding, gluing, fusing, soldering, and caulking.
• Trace and troubleshoot pipelines, systems, and equipment to locate and repair leaks.
• Perform safety and preventive maintenance inspections of systems and equipment.

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: Full-Time, 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.
