Job Description

Overview

The Pipefitter position is located within the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) jurisdiction, where the incumbent serves as an expert in troubleshooting, repairing, and installing plumbing systems in historic buildings within the Capitol Complex.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the electronic Building Automation System (BAS) to install, monitor, diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing systems.
  • Serve as an expert pipefitter and utilize the BAS system to troubleshoot and adjust systems.
  • Identify electronic faults in pumps and valves using the BAS system.
  • Adjust electronically controlled Variable Frequency Drives and related Direct Digital Controls.
  • Create work orders and document labor hours using Web TMA.
  • Use Mobile TMA to scan equipment and identify defective parts.
  • Access fountain equipment through BAS to identify fault locations and expedite repairs.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and replace faulty electronic Direct Digital Control Energy valves.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on steam, chilled water, domestic water, and heating systems.
  • Inspect and maintain life safety sprinkler systems in historic buildings.
  • Install, modify, and repair various piping systems including gas, air vacuum, and water distribution.
  • Follow all relevant safety rules and regulations, including OSHA compliance.
  • Receive training to ensure safety practices and equipment are utilized.

Additional Information

  • Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday; 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • This position is designated as 'Emergency/Essential' and requires reporting to work during emergencies.
