Spot Welders Wanted – Get Ready to Make Sparks Fly
As a Spot Weld Operator, you’ll play a key role in the manufacturing process by setting up and operating spot welding equipment, inspecting finished products for quality, and ensuring production goals are met safely and efficiently. You’ll use welding technology, quality inspection tools, and production systems while helping maintain smooth operations and minimizing downtime.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Vocational training, welding certification, or technical education is beneficial.
Experience Requirements
- Previous manufacturing or welding experience preferred
- Ability to operate spot welding equipment safely and efficiently
- Basic computer and math skills
- Experience using quality inspection and measuring equipment preferred
- Ability to operate cranes, overhead hoists, and motorized walking stackers
Job Duties
- Set up, operate, and monitor spot welding equipment to produce quality parts
- Load and unload materials and components into welding fixtures
- Adjust welding settings, change and file gun tips, and program equipment as needed
- Inspect welds throughout the production process to ensure quality standards are met
- Use grinders to remove excess weld material and prepare finished products
- Utilize quality tools and measuring equipment to verify product specifications
- Enter production and inventory information into the ERP system
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs
- Follow production schedules and execute scheduling board requirements
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety and environmental procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural welding, or production environments is preferred.
- Experience using grinders, saws, cutting equipment, and metal fabrication tools is beneficial.
- Knowledge of weld inspection, blueprint interpretation, and quality control procedures is considered an asset.
- Individuals who demonstrate craftsmanship, dependability, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Spot Welder.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in welding positions throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift metal components, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely wear welding helmets, gloves, and required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to safely work around welding equipment, sparks, heat, and fabrication machinery while following established safety procedures.
