Overview

The Combo Welder 1 position offers a competitive wage of up to $37.00 per hour based on weld qualifications, with benefits available within the first 30 days of employment. The role involves certifying on TIG Unlimited pipe and performing various welding tasks under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
  • Obtains specified electrode and inserts it into the portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through the portable welding gun.
  • Connects cables from welding unit to obtain specified amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse.
  • Starts power supply to produce electric current and strikes arc to generate heat for welding.
  • Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Cleans or degreases weld joint or work piece as necessary.
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
  • Prepares broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
  • Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter using hand scraper or power chipper.
  • Preheats work piece using hand torch or heating furnace.
  • Positions and clamps work pieces together or assembles them in jig or fixture.
  • Tacks assemblies together and cuts metal plates or structural shapes.
  • May be designated according to type of equipment used as various types of welders.
  • Passes employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards.
  • Works in accordance with safe job practices and complies with company safety rules.
  • Reports unsafe conditions or practices and participates in safety meetings.

Requirements

  • Successfully pass the on-site Weld Test, including visual inspection and x-ray.
  • TIG all the way out 2.5” double heavy (552 wall) in a 6G position.
  • May require a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Previous years of related experience preferred.

Additional Information

  • Day and Night Shift available with a 10% night shift differential.
