Overview

Wurtec is a global organization specializing in elevators and their users, committed to core values such as dedication and integrity. The Production Welder position involves working with the shop supervisor and team members to ensure safe and timely completion of welding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and demonstrate Wurtec’s core values.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to standards and regulations.
  • Use GMAW and GTAW welding equipment to manufacture parts and assemblies.
  • Become CWB Certified.
  • Operate necessary equipment to complete parts to specification.
  • Arrange and stage parts to be welded.
  • Review and follow all ISO documentation relating to the quality system.
  • Maintain supplies by checking stock and notifying the lead or supervisor.
  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements.
  • Report fabrication issues and assist with resolutions.
  • Attend work full-time and in-person.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Minimum 1 year welding experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • CWB certified or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Familiarity with jigs and fixtures.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and prints.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools.
  • Experience working with metalworking tools.
  • Aptitude for learning company ERP, Epicor.
  • Basic computer skills, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Adaptability to cross train in other departments.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
