Overview
General Matter is a mission-driven company focused on enriching uranium to produce low-cost nuclear fuel, aiming to restore America's ability to generate clean and affordable energy. The Development Fabrication Technician will play a crucial role in building the test infrastructure necessary for hardware development within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble test stands, fixtures, support equipment, and test articles from engineering drawings and concept sketches.
- Weld (TIG/MIG) per drawings and applicable codes - prep, fit, tack, finish, and inspect weldments.
- Bend, route, fit, and install tube and fluid-system hardware including fittings, flex lines, and supports - pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic.
- Machine and modify parts (manual mill/lathe, drilling, and/or CNC) for fixtures, adapters, and tooling.
- Perform precision mechanical assembly - fastener install, torque, alignment, and rigging of test hardware.
- Read and build from engineering drawings, GD&T, and fluid/electrical schematics.
- Maintain shop equipment, tooling, and consumables; keep a safe, organized, FOD-controlled work area.
- Feed design-for-manufacturability and tooling improvements back to engineering.
- Support test setup and execution.
Requirements
- 4+ years in technician or development support role.
- Demonstrated proficiency with hand and power tools and at least one core fabrication discipline (welding, machining, fluid-system fabrication, structural and mechanical assembly, electrical build).
- Ability to read and build from engineering drawings and GD&T.

Additional Information
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and/or weekends as needed.
