Job Description

Overview

The Wind Turbine Technician role involves climbing and servicing utility-scale wind turbines in an offshore array, performing maintenance tasks and troubleshooting issues as they arise. This position requires specific certifications and comfort working at heights in challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Climb and service utility-scale wind turbines across an offshore array.
  • Perform scheduled gearbox inspections.
  • Conduct blade pitch calibration.
  • Lubricate yaw drives.
  • Maintain hydraulic brakes at height.
  • Troubleshoot pitch and converter faults from the nacelle.
  • Torque foundation bolts to specification.
  • Replace worn slip rings and filters.
  • Document every work order in the asset management system.
  • Coordinate lifts and isolations with the control room before work begins.
  • Mix planned preventive maintenance with unplanned call-outs when alarms are flagged by the SCADA system.

Requirements

  • GWO Working at Heights certification.
  • GWO Sea Survival certification.
  • Rope-access proficiency.
  • Offshore medical clearance.
  • Comfort working ninety meters above open water in changing weather.
