Overview

Solterra Materials is seeking an Asphalt Plant Mechanic/Welder to join their award-winning team. This skilled craft position involves performing a variety of tasks related to asphalt plant operations while adhering to safety protocols and company values.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities with Solterra's Core Values at the forefront.
  • Have strong working knowledge of asphalt plant operation and electrical operation.
  • Read and comprehend repair manuals in their entirety.
  • Analyze malfunctions and repairs.
  • Operate and inspect plant to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantle and reassemble plant equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Weld broken parts and structural members.
  • Serve as a safety ambassador by complying with laws and company safety policy.
  • Foster a safety culture that promotes and enforces safe work practices.
  • Proactively identify and remedy job-site hazards.
  • Examine parts for damage and/or excessive wear.
  • Test overhauled equipment to ensure efficient operation.
  • Direct and guide team members engaged in cleaning parts.
  • Direct and guide team members assisting with assembly and disassembly of asphalt plant belts and parts.
  • Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts.
  • Complete any and all other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Three to five years of industry-related experience is required, with an emphasis on Asphalt Plant Operations.
  • Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Demonstrable previous experience as an Asphalt Plant Mechanic is required.
  • Must be fluent in English, able to speak, read, and write.

Additional Information

  • Constant physical effort is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
  • Work is often performed at heights up to 60 feet.
  • Employee must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Employee may be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, and other hazards.
