Overview

The Body Technician position at J.B. Hunt involves performing intermediate level body repairs on tractors and other equipment under routine supervision. The role requires troubleshooting, rebuilding, repairing, and painting, with a possibility of working outdoors and across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and perform valuations to create cost estimates for repairs.
  • Rebuild and paint wrecked trucks, hoods, and body parts with a focus on fiberglass and cosmetic repairs.
  • Demonstrate proficient technical knowledge of preventative maintenance and more difficult repairs related to tractor maintenance.
  • Accurately perform intermediate level repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications and complete work orders.
  • Troubleshoot tractor issues and work independently while seeking assistance as needed.
  • Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures.
  • Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers.
  • Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs.
  • Adhere to safety standards and procedures including maintaining respirator log.
  • Operate wrecker to move trucks into the shop for repairs.
  • Perform post-maintenance diagnostics and testing.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age with 1-2 years of experience in body repair or Semi-Tractor maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A/C Certification.
  • At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements, including lifting/moving appliances up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficient organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and comfortable working with a computer.
