Overview
The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will support a pipeline rehabilitation project in Utah, conducting welding inspections in the field and shop to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Performing visual inspections of welds
- Reviewing welding procedures and documentation
- Monitoring welding processes and identifying nonconformities
- Preparing detailed inspection reports and communicating findings to project managers and welding personnel
- Supporting corrective actions to maintain quality and safety standards
- Coordinating with quality control teams, participating in audits, and ensuring all welding activities meet regulatory and client requirements
Requirements
- Strong skills in Welding Inspection and application of relevant codes/standards
- Experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance, including documentation and continuous improvement
- Practical welding knowledge to understand processes, procedures, and techniques
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification highly preferred
- Background in industrial or construction environments, particularly pipelines or pressure vessels
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical specifications
- Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills with a focus on safety in field conditions
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree in welding/materials is an asset
