Overview

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will support a pipeline rehabilitation project in Utah, conducting welding inspections in the field and shop to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Performing visual inspections of welds
  • Reviewing welding procedures and documentation
  • Monitoring welding processes and identifying nonconformities
  • Preparing detailed inspection reports and communicating findings to project managers and welding personnel
  • Supporting corrective actions to maintain quality and safety standards
  • Coordinating with quality control teams, participating in audits, and ensuring all welding activities meet regulatory and client requirements

Requirements

  • Strong skills in Welding Inspection and application of relevant codes/standards
  • Experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance, including documentation and continuous improvement
  • Practical welding knowledge to understand processes, procedures, and techniques
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification highly preferred
  • Background in industrial or construction environments, particularly pipelines or pressure vessels
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical specifications
  • Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills with a focus on safety in field conditions
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree in welding/materials is an asset
