Overview
The Precision Tooling Apprenticeship Trainee position at Wiegel Tool Works offers a five-year earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship program that combines hands-on training with classroom instruction. Trainees will shadow experienced Tool and Die Makers and gain practical skills in a variety of machining processes, ultimately leading to a full-time Journeyman Tool and Die Maker role.
Responsibilities
- Shadow master Tool and Die Makers on the shop floor.
- Set up dies and measure to microns.
- Build confidence at a machine station.
- Attend hands-on coursework at the Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA).
- Advance from helper to contributor to trusted maker.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Hands-on mechanical curiosity and a strong desire to learn.
- Interest in manufacturing, machining, and engineering concepts.
- Collaborative mindset and reliable team habits.
- Strong attendance and commitment to finishing the apprenticeship.
- Comfort with math, measurement, and practical problem-solving.
- Capability to meet the physical demands of a production environment.
