Overview
The Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and electromechanical equipment in a manufacturing facility, working a weekend schedule either from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM or from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Friday through Sunday. This role also involves training and mentoring less skilled maintenance mechanics.
Responsibilities
- Installs, operates, maintains, repairs, lubricates, and troubleshoots complex processing and high-speed packaging machinery.
- Performs predictive and preventative maintenance activities as outlined in the CMMS system.
- Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots all types of A/C and D/C electrical equipment.
- Fabrics components using standard shop equipment including lathe, mill, and welding equipment.
- Operates production equipment as part of troubleshooting and validation of completed maintenance activity.
- Assists Engineering in installation of new equipment.
- Works with technical support, operations group, and peer mechanics to resolve machine or personnel issues.
- Helps maintain spare parts inventory for the plant.
- Maintains shop areas and parts room in a clean and orderly manner.
- Actively participates in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Occasionally performs work in other areas such as building maintenance.
- Complies with safety and cGMP requirements.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school plus a minimum of two years of related experience or a minimum of five years related experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of machine troubleshooting, electrical, mechanical, fabrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, and cGMPs.
- Food or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge and ability to repair packaging and processing production equipment.
- Ability to train and mentor other employees.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical blueprints.
