Overview
Austin Industrial is a leading provider of maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Boilermaker role involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects.
- Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
- Inspect assembled vessels or individual components for defects.
- Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
- Attach rigging and signal crane or hoist operators for heavy lifting.
- Bell, bead, or weld pressure vessel tube ends for leakproof joints.
- Lay out heavy metal and mark bending and cutting lines.
- Install components in drums of water tube boilers using hand tools.
- Study blueprints to determine locations and dimensions of parts.
- Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or parts.
- Shape seams, joints, or edges of pressure vessel sections.
- Position, align, and secure structural parts to boiler frames.
- Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundations.
- Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels or piping.
- Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and solvents.
- Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
- Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirements.
- NCCER Boilermaker certification required.
- Valid Driver’s License and TWIC Card required.
- 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience required.
