Overview

In this role, you will provide hands-on field service support for power transformers, helping customers install, maintain, and restore critical electrical assets. Your work will include installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and end-of-life services, often performed on-site in challenging field conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements.
  • Support customer operations by addressing technical issues and anticipating service needs.
  • Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manuals.
  • Complete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured joints.
  • Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directed.
  • Operate and maintain vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment with direction, including completing required logs.
  • Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts.
  • Contribute ideas for product and process improvements that enhance operations and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Associate Degree with 2 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional work experience.
  • Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing.
  • Familiarity with transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing, and internal transformer components.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel up to 85%.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders.
