Overview

Construction laborers perform a variety of physically demanding tasks related to building structures, tenant improvement, mechanical insulation, and lite demolition. They are responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites, loading and unloading materials, and assisting skilled craft workers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of physically demanding tasks.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
  • Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials.
  • Help other craft workers such as carpenters and plasterers.
  • Tend machines, including mixing concrete and operating spray guns.
  • Operate various equipment like plaster mixers and laser beam equipment.
  • Work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision.

  • Wages in the LA area range from $20.23 per hour for entry level apprentices to $44.43 per hour for Journeyman.
  • Wages in the San Diego area range from $19.00 per hour for entry level apprentices to $37.93 per hour for Journeyman.
  • Wages are determined by union scale as per the current collective bargaining agreement.
