Overview
This is a 12-month contract position for a Structural Analyst at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, with potential for extension or conversion. The role requires US citizenship or permanent residency and involves performing structural analysis for various project phases.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis (FEA and Classical Hand) for different project phases.
- Analyze and size structural hardware per prescribed loading environment and material properties.
- Generate structural strength and stability margins.
- Make configuration and design recommendations to optimize load paths.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
- Experience in structural analysis techniques including classical hand analyses and Finite Element analysis.
- Working knowledge of FEA codes (MSC/NASTRAN or NX/NASTRAN) and pre & post processing tools (FEMAP).
- Knowledge of metallic and composite structures, bonded joints, and bolted joint analyses.
- Knowledge of structural failure mechanisms including material failure, instability, and fatigue.
