Job Description

Overview

Responsibilities

  • Own the structural systems of the modular product on the line from released drawings through rate production.
  • Walk the Phoenix manufacturing line daily to catch fit-up and weld issues on the spot.
  • Provide real-time structural support for the factory, answering RFIs same-day.
  • Conduct first-article reviews and fit checks in person, documenting findings for drawing changes.
  • Feed learnings from the manufacturing line back into design, tolerances, and BOM.

Requirements

  • Experience engineering structures for complex physical products, modular construction, or heavy fabrication.
  • Familiarity with working on a shop floor or fabrication line and making decisions on nonconformance.
  • Ability to produce clean drawings that require minimal calls from fabricators.
  • Experience supporting production launches of designs through early units.
  • Ability to iterate quickly while maintaining configuration control.
  • Bonus: PE license, steel and sheet metal design experience, familiarity with structural detailing standards, and DFM instincts.
