At Thompson Pipe Group, we design and build the pressure, sanitary, drainage, and trenchless pipe systems that keep communities moving. As a Spiral‑Weld Pipe Repair Welder, you’ll bring steel cylinders into spec—inside and out—so they meet demanding standards for durability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Inspect full interior and exterior surfaces of spirally welded cylinders to AWWA C200 and project specifications; execute necessary repairs.
- Accurately document repairs and dimensional readings to the nearest 1/32 inch.
- Square cylinder ends and perform corrective work with an oxy‑acetylene cutting torch and handheld grinders.
- Handle minor maintenance on welding equipment and associated tools; use and care for company‑provided equipment properly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free workstation.
Requirements
- Pass a 3G test with back‑gouge and back‑weld using the FCAW process.
- Demonstrated ability to weld to ASME Section VIII, UW‑51 (100% RT X‑ray) criteria with a 92% or higher acceptance rate.
- Experience with flux‑cored welding; SMAW required; SAW experience is a plus.
- Fluency with standard welding practices and procedures; able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Hands‑on proficiency using flux‑cored process, cutting torch, handheld grinders, and related tools.
