Job Description

Overview

The Structural Ironworker-Welder is responsible for planning, laying out, and performing structural steel erection and fabrication work according to applicable plans and industry standards. The role requires collaboration with other crafts and the ability to take direction from skilled workers or foremen.

Responsibilities

  • Seek opportunities to share knowledge and teach others.
  • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, and material storage.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in trade mathematics.
  • Inspect subordinates' work for accuracy and compliance with plans.
  • Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks and methods.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with crew members.
  • Produce high quality work safely and productively.
  • Provide feedback to ensure availability of materials, tools, and information.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards.
  • Minimum of three to six plus years of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry.
  • In-depth understanding of the ironworker trade.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
