Overview
This welding position offers an opportunity for individuals with welding experience or formal training to join a team dedicated to building advanced submarines. The role involves various welding tasks and continuous training in both traditional and modern welding processes.
Responsibilities
- Welding on a wide variety of materials using different weld processes.
- Welding structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during submarine construction.
- Participating in continuous training on traditional and new welding processes.
- Using pneumatic tools such as grinders, burr tools, and wire brushes.
- Performing oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging.
- Verifying weld size using weld gauges.
- Reading and interpreting weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience.
- Welding experience or formal welding training.
- Available to work all shifts.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperature conditions.
- Must be able to pass destructive bend weld test after training.
- Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools.
