Overview

This welding position offers an opportunity for individuals with welding experience or formal training to join a team dedicated to building advanced submarines. The role involves various welding tasks and continuous training in both traditional and modern welding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Welding on a wide variety of materials using different weld processes.
  • Welding structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during submarine construction.
  • Participating in continuous training on traditional and new welding processes.
  • Using pneumatic tools such as grinders, burr tools, and wire brushes.
  • Performing oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging.
  • Verifying weld size using weld gauges.
  • Reading and interpreting weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience.
  • Welding experience or formal welding training.
  • Available to work all shifts.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperature conditions.
  • Must be able to pass destructive bend weld test after training.
  • Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools.
