Overview
The Structural Steel Welder is responsible for welding and fabricating structural steel components used in major bridge and infrastructure projects. This role requires strong Flux Core welding skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Weld bridge components using FCAW, GMAW/MIG, SAW, and SMAW in accordance with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code standards.
- Read and interpret weld symbols, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), and shop drawings.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
- Safely work with overhead cranes, fixtures, and heavy plate assemblies.
Requirements
- Two or more years of structural steel welding experience required.
- Flux Core (FCAW) welding experience required.
- Experience with GMAW/MIG, SAW, and SMAW is a plus.
- Current or prior AWS welding certifications preferred, particularly D1.1/D1.5.
- AISC fabrication shop experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret weld symbols, WPSs, and shop drawings.
- Ability to safely work with overhead cranes, fixtures, and heavy plate assemblies.

Additional Information
- Pay: $22–$34/hr. (depending on experience and certifications)
- Shift: 1st shift – 5:00 AM start, 10-hour shifts, 50 hour weeks. Every other week 60 hour work week.
