Overview

Prestage Farms is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks in a hatchery environment. The technician will troubleshoot and repair equipment to ensure maximum efficiency while supporting the company's policies and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain machinery and equipment such as incubators, conveyors, electrical components, compressors, HVAC systems, and pumps.
  • Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, push buttons, contactors, motors, and motor starters.
  • Perform work order repairs, inspections, adjustments, and operate/maintain the wastewater sprayfield.
  • Set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools, and other metal working equipment.
  • Fabricate and modify new and existing equipment.
  • Participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programs as well as animal welfare training.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with departmental heads and representatives of other divisions.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid NC Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing to respond to off hour shift emergencies and on a rotating weekend call list.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and electrical repair.
  • HVAC experience is preferred.
  • Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate is an asset.
  • Experience in computer repair/technology is an asset.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevated levels as well as confined spaces.
