Job Description

Overview

CECO Environmental is a global leader in providing sustainable solutions for industrial air, water, and energy transition. The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, contributing to CECO's mission of protecting people and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate hydraulic press brake for forming sheet metal and plate parts.
  • Set up and operate plate rolls with material size ranging from 20 gauge to 1/4” plate.
  • Set up and operate sheet metal shear, calculating the best cut to minimize scrap.
  • MIG weld from 20 gauge to 3/8” plate using stainless and carbon steel material.
  • Understand or learn the forming process of various sheet metal parts.
  • Weld in very tight confined spaces, such as inside a small tank.
  • Read assembly prints and procedures.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Trade or Technical School Degree Preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read assembly prints and procedures.
  • Punctual and self-motivated.
  • Team player with the ability to work with a diverse group.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
