Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The NDT Inspector – Advanced will evaluate fabricated materials through inspections and nondestructive testing methods to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate assembly of fabricated materials through dimensional checks and visual inspection of welds.
  • Conduct nondestructive testing using ultrasonic, mag particle, and liquid penetrant processes.
  • Coordinate the Quality area to meet production goals and complete daily paperwork.
  • Describe Valmont’s quality system and demonstrate inspection proficiency for auditors.
  • Mentor and train entry and intermediate level NDT Inspectors and welders.
  • Perform metallurgical testing including weld coupon testing and positive material identification.
  • Generate and maintain NDT reports and records for the company and contractors.
  • Make decisions regarding codes and specifications, including AWS D1.2.
  • Reject material and stop work in process to minimize financial loss.
  • Participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 7+ years of experience or Associates Degree with 5+ years’ experience or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5 years’ experience in a fabricated aluminum or steel environment.
  • Level II NDT certifications or ability to obtain Level II certification.
  • AWS CWI certification.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations and use measuring tools.
  • Ability to operate NDT testing equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Additional Information

  • This is a 2nd shift position with hours from 2PM-12PM, Monday through Thursday.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, and noise.
