Overview

Nelson Engineering is seeking a TIG Welding Cell Lead to enhance quality, throughput, and mentorship in an aerospace manufacturing environment. The role involves scheduling, maintaining high standards, and hands-on welding as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Set the daily/weekly plan: prioritize, schedule, and sequence jobs for maximum flow.
  • Perform and oversee TIG welding on sheet, tubing, machined parts, and castings across varied alloys and thicknesses.
  • Train and mentor team members; foster a supportive, high-performance culture.
  • Maintain consistent department quality, safety, organization, and performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues and remove bottlenecks.
  • Support internal and external audits with confidence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of aerospace TIG welding experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS D17.1 Fusion Welding and NADCAP.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Clear, effective communicator with a strong work ethic; thrives both independently and on a team.
