Job Description

Overview

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We are looking for a Pipe Welder II to apply their technical expertise and leadership skills to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weld joints by cleaning, fitting, tacking, and positioning parts in fixtures and tooling per engineering drawings and process documentation.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical work instructions.
  • Perform GTAW welding in a manufacturing production environment.
  • Ensure NDT-quality welds, including work inspected by X-ray and ultrasonic testing.
  • Perform welds on components subject to pressure loads.
  • Use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.
  • Pass a practical Weld Test (1F, 3F, 2G, 3G and 6G).
  • Mentor less experienced technicians and welders.
  • Operate material handling equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of experience GTAW welding in a manufacturing production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with NDT-quality welds.
  • Familiarity with all types of Non-Destructive testing and quality policies.
  • Background in tube welding and heavy-wall pipe and plate welding in high-pressure or safety-critical applications.
  • Experience in a high-scrutiny, safety- or mission-critical industry.
  • Familiarity with Geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Current GTAW certifications in accordance with AWS D17.1.
  • Expert level of confidence in aerospace manufacturing specifications for structural and welded assemblies.
  • Willingness to develop/learn new welding processes.
  • Leadership experience.
