Overview

Oshkosh AeroTech, a leading provider of aviation ground support products and services, is seeking a Welder / Maintenance Repair Technician at Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL). This role involves performing welding, fabrication, troubleshooting, and maintenance on PLC-controlled baggage handling systems and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication using MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding processes.
  • Possess a current 3G welding certification.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform quality welds in various positions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, welding symbols, and related documentation.
  • Fabricate, modify, repair, and install metal components and structures.
  • Perform cutting, grinding, fitting, and other metal fabrication activities.
  • Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for quality and functionality.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe condition.
  • Provide troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of PLC controlled baggage systems.
  • Provide accurate data for maintenance information input.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
  • Drive and operate different equipment such as golf carts and forklifts.
  • Support operations by clearing bag jams.
  • Assist with maintenance data input into the computerized management system.
  • Respond to maintenance calls as required.
  • Comply with company safety program and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Must have a 3G Welding Certificate or higher.
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance.
  • Availability to work day or night shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience in maintenance operations preferred.
  • Industrial Electrical Experience with 3 phase motors and 480v preferred.
  • Mechanic skills including troubleshooting and repair preferred.
  • Familiarity with Airport operations is a plus.
  • Intermediate understanding of PLC Control systems preferred.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics preferred.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
