Overview

The Welder 1 position involves performing various welding applications under direct supervision, including working on different types of trailers. The role requires learning to interpret blueprints and conducting inspections to meet quality specifications while supporting team objectives.

Responsibilities

• Perform work in a professional and safe manner, reporting unsafe work practices.
• Learn and understand layout, assembly, and welding procedures.
• Complete and understand reports including scrap, safety, quality, and work orders.
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them for welding.
• Assemble parts by bolting as needed.
• Perform constant bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Learn techniques for repairing products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, cutting, and reassembling parts.
• Use fabrication equipment such as plasma cutters and cutting torches.
• Clean and quality check all welds and run structural welds.
• Learn to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve welding problems.
• Adhere to the company’s Quality Programs, policies, and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D Equivalent.
• Preferred technical education courses from vocational and technical institutes or community colleges.
• Strong understanding of interpreting and using blueprints, welding specifications, and procedures.
• Ability to use and read welding measuring devices.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Effective communication skills with supervision and team members.
• Ability to make repair welds using fabrication equipment.
• Basic math skills for calculating material fabrication.
• Willingness to learn the proper use of fabrication support equipment.
