Overview

The Mechanical Unit Assembler position involves assembling and disassembling various automotive components and units in preparation for repair, overhaul, rebuilding, or cleaning. The role requires a comprehensive knowledge of automotive equipment and the ability to operate necessary tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, repairs, and replaces worn or broken parts of units.
  • Assembles machine units or parts relative to engine and component overhaul.
  • Installs new component and engine modifications.
  • Washes ports, moves moves, and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must submit to and pass drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the Federal Transportation Administration.
  • Must have or obtain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have experience as a Unit Preparer or its equivalent.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various automotive equipment components and parts.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and equipment necessary to assemble and disassemble automotive engines.
  • Knowledge of acceptable methods and procedures for cleaning and degreasing automotive components.
  • Skills to operate the Authority’s automotive vehicles and equipment.
  • Skills to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
