Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic I position at Illinois Masonic Medical Center involves performing facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with codes and standards. The role requires basic skills in troubleshooting and repairing various mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring a safe and functional environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Document maintenance activities using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, and boilers.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair patient care equipment like beds and wheelchairs.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical/electrical systems including HVAC and plumbing.
• Perform routine general maintenance functions such as carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
• Respond to emergencies like leaks and power outages as directed.
• Respond to building occupant requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and perform equipment safety checks.
• Inspect and repair fire doors and smoke partitions.
• Read blueprints and maintenance manuals to complete assignments.

Requirements

• Driver's License required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than 2 years’ experience in equipment maintenance.
• Basic computer skills including CMMS and Microsoft Office.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

• Full Time; 1st shift.
• Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 7am-3:30pm.
• Location: Illinois Masonic Medical Center (IMMC); Chicago, IL - northside near Wrigleyville neighborhood.
