Overview

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a Maintainer (Plumbing) to ensure the operation, maintenance, and repair of extensive plumbing systems within the museum. This role is crucial for preserving the museum's vast collection of art by providing a stable environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent work under general supervision in plumbing operations, maintenance, and repair.
• Make routine examinations for repairs and maintenance needs.
• Prepare and maintain records on work performed and materials used.
• Possess thorough knowledge of the Museum's plumbing equipment and operation.
• Understand the Museum's floor plans and buildings.
• Respond to building emergencies.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repair.
• Perform related work as required, including special projects.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum two years’ experience with plumbing equipment and systems.
• Specialized skill as a plumber and pipe fitter.
• Experience in soldering, brazing, and PVC piping.
• Ability to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs, including lifting at least 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time.
• High school diploma or equivalency is required; college degree preferred.
