Overview

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Technician I or II to perform routine transportation operations and maintenance support work, including roadway maintenance, equipment operation, and public assistance during emergencies. This position is based in Fort Worth, TX, and offers opportunities for growth within the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying, repairing, and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports, and posts.
  • Provide support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites and assist stranded motorists.
  • Conduct traffic control by placing and gathering cones, warning signs, and barricades.
  • Maintain highways and rights-of-way, perform roadway repairs, and erect/repair guard rails and highway markers.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment for maintenance tasks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and routine servicing on equipment.
  • Assist with inspecting maintenance contract construction methods and workmanship.
  • Setup temporary traffic control and maintain drainage systems.
  • Clear debris, maintain wooded areas, and repair guardrails and fences.

Requirements

  • No education required for Transportation Maintenance Tech I.
  • No experience required for Transportation Maintenance Tech I.
  • 1 year of experience in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, or heavy equipment operation for Transportation Maintenance Tech II.
  • Valid driver's license at the time of application.
  • Must obtain a Commercial Class 'A' Driver's License with an 'N' Endorsement within 120 days of employment.
  • Mandatory Safety Impact Certificate.

Additional Information

  • Position located at 2540 Edgecliff Road, Fort Worth, TX 76133.
  • Required to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to report for duty within 60 minutes of notification on a 24-hour basis.
