Overview

The Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration position involves installing and maintaining HVAC and refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with building codes, and implementing preventive maintenance programs. The role requires effective communication with customers and collaboration with team members while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels.
  • Configures and calibrates systems to meet operational specifications.
  • Interprets layout plans and schematics for accurate system setup.
  • Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues.
  • Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life.
  • Maintains and repairs various refrigeration units.
  • Performs routine checks on HVAC systems and Energy Management Systems.
  • Conducts inspections and repairs in compliance with HVAC/R regulations.
  • Leads field teams and mentors less-experienced technicians.
  • Communicates technical issues and service outcomes to customers.
  • Manages escalated service issues and coordinates with external providers.
  • Tracks refrigerant levels, parts inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Submits warranty claims, expense reports, and work orders.
  • Collaborates with management, co-workers, and customers.
  • Maintains company vehicles and ensures compliance with policies.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation for business-critical needs.

Requirements

  • Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field.
  • 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R.
  • Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or serious traffic violations in the last five years.
