Overview

Waltonen is seeking a Welder to join their team, focusing on welding requirements for various projects in the automotive, aerospace, defense, and energy sectors. Responsibilities

  • Report to Independence Tooling Operations Manager.
  • Complete all welding requirements for various projects.
  • Analyze prints and CAD for proper fit-up, tack, and weld for GTAW/Tig and GMAW/Mig processes.
  • Weld both aluminum and steel.
  • Fabricate components using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces.
  • Understand various techniques, best practices, and necessary supplies and gases.
  • Maintain an orderly workspace for each project.
  • Complete in-process and pre-weld inspection checklist.
  • Create and/or follow required process documents.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following procedures and complying with regulations.
  • Prepare for work inspections by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Earn operator certifications for GTAW Aluminum and GMAW Steel.
  • Use a HiLo and crane with provided instruction and certification.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience with TIG Welding and Fabrication.
  • Basic understanding of prints and GD&T.
  • Experience performing equipment maintenance.
  • Experience using power tools.
  • Knowledge of basic safety practices.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Strong analytical skills and interest in problem-solving.
  • Dependability in performing job-related tasks and meeting deadlines.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
