Overview

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Processing Tech III in Torrance, CA. HFS is a leader in aerospace fastening systems and is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of plating machines to process parts according to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Process parts to meet Government, Manufacturing and Environmental Specifications
  • Clean parts free of oil and grease per departmental specifications
  • Ensure parts are clean prior to chemical immersion
  • Sort parts to separate media, defected parts, FOD and uniformity
  • Paint, Dip, Hand blast and Tumble parts
  • Strip all coatings from OD/ID of parts
  • Olive drab chromate with color or clear after CAD Plate
  • Use machines such as Hand Blast, Auto Blast, Tumble DeBurr, Jenfab, Hoist, and Spin Dryer
  • Apply copper, nickel, silver, zinc and cadmium coatings to metal parts
  • Make voltage and amperage adjustments to proper current density of plating baths
  • Maintain pH level and proper chemical concentrations of all plating baths
  • Perform hydrogen relief treatments after plating and chemical cleaning operations
  • Inspect a representative sample of each plating load to ensure proper coverage and adhesion
  • Measure plating thickness utilizing x-ray method and instruments such as micrometer, magna-gage and dermitron
  • Purge plating solutions periodically by carbon treating and dummy plating
  • Lift and/or transport parts weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Train other operators as required
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S standards
  • Perform other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required

Requirements

  • 3+ years of aerospace plating experience or relevant industry
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to lawfully obtain access to export-controlled items
