Overview

We are looking for a Mechanic/Technician (Automotive/Railcar/Aerospace) to handle commissioning, field modifications, troubleshooting, and repairs. This role involves working on train cars and requires both mechanical and electrical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Handle commissioning of train cars for service.
  • Perform field modifications and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Run tests and replace mechanical/electrical parts.
  • Fix miswiring and perform software updates.
  • Use diagnostic software to assess onboard systems.
  • Identify root causes of issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Document failures, repairs, and modifications in the database.
  • Implement Field Modifications (FMIs) to enhance product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Operate shop machinery and hand tools in a hands-on environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; vocational training or practical experience preferred.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to use tools and a multimeter.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and maintenance documents.

Additional Information

  • Pay Rate: $30 - $32/Hr
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite - approximately 15% travel – East or West Coast)
  • Shift: 6 AM to 2:30 PM
