Overview

The Maintenance Technician position at Vantage involves providing repair and maintenance support in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation areas at the Chicago Oleo Plant. The role includes performing preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of plant wide equipment during production.
• Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Conduct mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance.
• Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
• Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment as directed by supervisor.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on various equipment.
• Use hand and power tools to perform routine equipment maintenance functions.
• Use powered man lifts and scissor lifts to gain safe access to equipment.
• Transport and lift equipment using forklift trucks and other specialist equipment.
• Certify plant instruments following established ISO guidelines.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical/instrumentation problems and carry out repairs.
• Install new equipment as required.
• Maintain and upgrade plant facilities as required.
• Complete record keeping documentation including work orders and safety permits.
• Report any food safety and quality related issues to management immediately.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree/technical certification in a related field or 3-5 years of applicable maintenance experience in a manufacturing process plant environment, preferably Chemical or Petro Chemical.
• Ability to pass third party trade tests as required.

• Work indoors 85% of the time and outdoors 15% of the time.
