Overview

The Shipbuilder position at Hanwha Philly Shipyard involves performing various shipbuilding tasks while adhering to safety procedures and maintaining a clean work environment. The role requires experience in shipbuilding production and the ability to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Work independently according to instructions and standards.
  • Utilize various shipbuilding tools such as grinders and torches.
  • Read shipbuilding blueprints and technical documents.
  • Assemble basic plates and stiffeners.
  • Produce large panels and double bottoms, including pre-outfitting.
  • Conduct web line production, including plate cutting.
  • Occasionally move and store materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Check areas before starting hot work and protect them accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in shipyards with shipbuilding production or ship repair.
  • Experience with manufacturing heavy steel structures, pressure vessels, and boilers.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
